What is the secret to staying centered on what is good about life?
Driving the conversation

Dear Happiness,

I have not yet seen Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” yet, but just watching the video clip of his movie trailer really got me thinking. I think a lot of people would agree that there was always such an air of sadness surrounding Michael. He had millions of fans around the world, and could have essentially anything he wanted in life. Yet still, he was unhappy. This just reminded me that I must really count my blessings and really try to understand and focus on what is most important in life to maintain my happiness. It is not material things. That only brings us temporary joy. It is the friends and family and the feelings we get from helping others. Those are the things that last. Although I did not know MJ personally, my theory is that the root of his unhappiness was often loneliness and a feeling like he was not understood. So let’s take some time out of our busy schedules to connect with those that we love, and make everyone we meet feel like they are appreciated.
